Emperor's Kitchen Chinese Buffet

Every time I frequent Emperor's Kitchen, in Brookfield, WI, I leave with full belly.  That's because their buffet is consistently stocked with hot, fresh, steaming delicious chinese food.  Some places don't take care to ensure that their food is warm. Some, you'll find items over cooked and dried out by heat lamps and the hot plates below. Not the case here.  I often visit buffets because I'm on the road a lot, and it's easy to just pop in, walk up, shovel food onto a plate, eat slowly enough to enjoy it, and be on my way in a timely manner.  Yesterday was no different from my usual experience.

Pictured below is my first plate, with "Pepper Chicken", a simple dish I've come to enjoy sure to its sweet and spicy mix of flavors. Also on plate is sweet sour pork.  I like this better here than most places because they use a light breading that just barely covers the pork and adds a light, crispy texture to the meat.  My only complaint is that the pork is a tad over cooked, leaving you with a hunk of meaty that's a bit too chewy for my tastes.   Also here are a few pork filled wontons.  There's not a whole lot of flavor in a wonton, but it's nice to get a little crunch in there.  I like the sweet sour sauce they use.  It doesn't look like a lot of the sweet sour sauces that sit at Chinese restaurants, that are must likely poured out of a giant Sysco can  and taste like it, too.  This sauce is thick, and I want to say complex, tasting more of the "sour" than the canned stuff. There's also diced pineapples and peppers inside.

I won't comment on the food that isn't pictured here, as nothing really stood out.. One thing that intrigued me, although I did not indulge, was the "mushu pancakes" which looked to be a possibly rice-based tortilla type thing that I presume you stuff mushu pork into.  I suppose it's similar to a spring roll... Next time.

So overall I give Emperor's Kitchen an 8/10.  If the pork wasn't a tad over cooked, it would have been a 9.

So this is my first restaurant review, and it may be my last...  It's not very organized, and I'm not sure if it's really readable or in the proper format or layout to make a good review.  I'm not even sure I want to do reviews, or just write about my experience...

Hang with me. I'm sure it'll get better.

Side note... I'm doing this all from the tony touch screen keyboard on my Android phone, so there may be typos our autocorrect errors!  I will proofread later and fix... If I have time.
Thanks for reading!

Recent eats

I know this isn't exactly what I have on mind for this blog. But it's a start.  These are the things I've recently made or gone out for and cared enough to snap a photo.

Intro

Hi there.  My name is Mike, I'm from the Milwaukee area and this is my first blog post ever.  I'm not an experienced writer in any way, and don't really have much to say, but I talked with some friends about doing a food blog because we love to eat, and we love the company we bring with us when we go.  I'm not sure how this is all going to go, but the intention is to go out for dinner at least once a week and report back what we thought of our meals and experiences, at local restaurants, bars, and other nightlife (hence the sinners).  I'm hoping that we can provide some insight to other diners from a perspective of people who don't really spend a lot of time or money in restaruants and  haven't been educated in the arts of food.  I will also occasionally share my cooking experiences.  I also encourage comments and feedback and company at our excursions, and help with the blog if you choose to do so.  Hope you enjoy!
